Developing confident and engaged learners through music
Heartland Music works in partnership with primary schools across the UK to deliver engaging, curriculum-linked music projects that support creativity, confidence and musical understanding.
Our programmes are designed to complement the Curriculum for Excellence and the National Curriculum and provide meaningful musical experiences for all pupils, regardless of previous experience. Sessions are delivered in school and can be tailored to suit your school's priorities, curriculum themes or improvement plan.
Creative Partnerships
Creative Music Pathways (P1–P7)
P1–P4: Focus and Exploration
A six-week whole-school project designed to develop musical skills, listening, creativity and confidence.
P1–P4: Musical Foundations
Through singing, games and practical activities, pupils develop:

Beat, pulse and rhythm

Listening and responding skills

Musical vocabulary

Creativity and imagination

Concentration and teamwork

Confidence through music-making
Sessions are active, inclusive and designed to support wider learning and wellbeing outcomes.
P5–P7: Listening and Composition
Older pupils explore how music is created and communicated through a project inspired by the BBC Ten Pieces approach.
Pupils will:

Listen critically to a range of musical works

Explore musical elements such as rhythm, texture, structure and dynamics

Discuss and respond to music creatively

Develop their own compositional ideas

Create original pieces individually or collaboratively

Reflect on and evaluate their creative work
Projects can be linked to interdisciplinary learning topics where appropriate.

Heartland Music can also create bespoke projects linked to specific curriculum themes, school improvement priorities or local events.
